Furniture and Things Community Event Center - Elk River
Cornerstone (main rink) 🧊🧊
Kiser 🧊🧊
Last weekend we had both our hockey players in tournaments. What a crazy busy weekend this was; 8 games (4 games each) in 3 days, in two different cities. Our youngest (8U girl) was playing in The Barn Burner Tournament. This is the first time that she was going to be playing in a 1/2 ice tournament (not a Jamboree and they placed 1st) and she was participating in the skills competition for sharp shooter (she placed 2nd).
The long name for the arena covers it all, this community event center has a lot to offer and is a very nice facility. They have 2 ice rinks and a field house and much more. Upstairs there is a very nice concession stand and lots of tables and chairs. There is even a bar upstairs, great for any "safety meetings" that may need to take place before a game.
Cornerstone is their main rink with lots of bench seating on both sides of the rink. you can also see the rink from the concession stand area on the second level but the comfort level in the rink is great. I had my jacket on and unzipped for the 3 games that she played on that ice. There is also a walking track on the upper level that goes around the rink! I did see that there was an elevator for anyone needing to get upstairs. You can access the seats for the top or bottom at this rink.
Kiser is their other rink and it's also nice. Not as much seating and only on one side. I was in this rink for only one game but I did have my jacket on and unzipped for this game as well. I have heard that this rink could be on the colder side. I'm guessing that because this was a tournament weekend that they may have had it at a comfortable level for this reason? Maybe pack a blanket or your heated vest just incase you are going to this rink on a non tournament weekend. I'm not sure if this rink had it's own elevator or if they used the one near Cornerstone but to view this rink you do have to so upstairs to get to the seats.
I usually don't get to see what the locker rooms look like in most of these rinks because I'm not allowed in the boys locker rooms but this was for my daughter so I was in the locker rooms at this arena. Both rinks have nice sized locker rooms and are a comfortable temp for players to get ready in.
